There’s a charming new shop in Toronto’s historic Distillery District that’s sure to win you over. It features a fascinating collection of vintage treasures, industrial lighting and furnishings. Owner Paula DiRenzo has put together a unique and inviting store. For many years, Paula owned Fleur de Terre on Avenue Road. She’s now traded country estate chic for a more industrial nostalgic vibe that’s a great fit for the Distillery District.

If you’re tired of the same gift show merchandise you see all over town, this place is for you. Paula has a great eye for spotting treasures and a real talent for displaying the pieces she finds. Take a look.

Paula DiRenzo, the owner of Blackbird Vintage Finds at Building No. 57 in Toronto’s Distillery District.

These stunning dishes caught my eye.

So many different metal letters to choose from – some are new — others are pre-loved.

A few fabulous vintage E’s.

Interesting vignettes throughout the store.

Each piece is full of personality and possibilities.

I need one of these books.

Blackbird Vintage Finds is a great spot to just wander around and explore — coffee in hand.

The Distillery District was founded in 1832 by brothers-in-law William Gooderham and James Worts. The Gooderham and Worts Distillery grew to become the largest distillery in the world. Today it’s been restored and developed into a pedestrian only cultural district . The character filled buildings represent the largest collection of Victorian Industrial architecture in North America.  To find out more about the Distillery District, take a look at the website here.

The contrast between old and new – antique and modern, is part of the Distillery District’s appeal.

Even the windows are beautiful.

Check out the patina on these doors.

Blackbird Vintage Finds can be found at 55 Mill Street, Building 57. The phone number is 416 681-0558. You can reach Paula online at paula@blackbirdvintage.com.
